So...who won?

For Christmas this year, Cole and I bought a king size mattress and box spring, so we decided that for our other gifts, we were not allowed to spend any money (this idea brought to you by yours truly) I thought it would create and opportunity to be creative and sentimental and thoughtful and romantic.....

Bad idea.

It is not recommended by most leading professionals to set yourself up for failure.

I got my husband this:

Love note (TOTALLY romantic) + finishing HIS wedding thank you’s(Totally should have done anyway) +

(creative?)

My husband got me this:

A reenactment of the first time we kissed:

(TOTALLY romantic,

TOTALLY sentimental,

TOTALLY creative, AND

TOTALLY thoughtful)

He threw me some of his clothes to wear (I looked REALLY good), we hopped on his parents mountain bikes, rode a mile to the top of a golf course so we could see all around us, layed down to look at the stars (not so starry last night), drank hot chocolate, and then really, seriously REENACTED our first kiss. It went like this:

(LOTS of awkward hugging and fidgeting hands)

Cole: Uh, so uh, still going strong with that two month thing?

Remi: (thinking) WHA? (speaking) What?

Cole: Uh, yeah, uh, you told me a while ago (2 years to be exact) that you waited two months to kiss the guy you’re dating

Remi: (thinking) WHA? WHY would I say such a stupid thing????.....but (sigh) he remembered, how cute! (speaking) Oh, uh, I don’t know. (good one Rem)

Cole: Oh.

(a lot more awkward hugging and fidgeting, to the point we are both getting cold and uncomfortable until Cole starts walking toward the bikes to LEAVE)

Remi: (thinking) WHAT IS HE DOING! (walking away from me)

MUST DO SOMETHING. (still walking away)

NOW. (pull him back and kiss him good)

The reenactment was WAY more fun….because I added in things, like grabbing his bum and wrapping my leg around him, saying sweet nothings in his ear, etc.

Sidenote: my husband also walked up to me at home one day and passionately kissed me for no reason with no expectations. I also counted this as the best Christmas present ever.

Moral of the story: Don't lose at your own game.

seriously. I agree. bar has been raised. WHO ARE YOU PEOPLE? Are you put on this earth to make us all feel less good about ourselves? gee whiz! As soon as I read the "reenactment" thing.. I literally said outloud, "Oh COME ON!"

I do not see me or my husband doing either of these things. Did you ever see the Friends where Chandler & Monica do homemade gifts and Chandler gives Monica an old mixed tape and Monica gives him a sock puppet. This would be us.

By the way, I need to see you.

Wow, way to go Cole! Not that the scarf wasn't impressive Rem, but he pretty much destroyed you on this one! Nothing better than reenactments (plus a little extra sizzle)!

No Lili is not wearing your onesie from the 80's, although based on the fact that you asked I'm very glad that we borrowed the snowsuit (2 pieces) and did not purchase it! Aren't you proud of her though!?!

We miss you guys and can't wait to see you in February...don't even think about going out of town over President's Day!
