once there was a stoneman

Mr. Stoneman and I live a pretty simplified life right now. And I LOVE it. We’ve almost been married for a year, we’re home a lot together, we have callings at church together, and we have our perfect simple home.

We don't have a TV, our bed still doesn’t have a headboard or stand, NONE of our furniture matches, and we are still using our landlords curtains she left us, which may or may not have visible german shephard drool and pee stains in them. Its a southwestern house with a mexican fiesta kitchen complete with blue tile counters and we have an adobe fireplace. I love when Mr. Stoneman makes a fire in the winter. Its my favorite. My other favorite is sitting on the back balchony playing the guitar and singing together, or just listening to the variety of singers and comedians at Aunt Chiladas at night (some good, some we have to go inside and shut the door for).

But no matter what, rain, wind, or heat, we get to watch that old man with his little cocker spaniel Princess, I think, knock pigeons out of their hiding place in the crevices of the business right in front of our house so his little Princess can chase them. (For all of you animal lovers out there, she never catches them)

Sometimes we listen to the cats at the dumpster fight and wonder how its possible for a creature to make such noises.

Sometimes our teenage neighbors downstairs will listen to Boot Scootin Boogie in spainish and push repeat and giggle and dance, and I stay in the bathroom and listen because it makes me smile.
