happy birthday little man

today, to celebrate Smith's birthday we:

gave him breakfast in bed.  wait, we do that every day.  and by b in b, I mean, in my bed, and I nursed him.

took a shower with dad.

watched his very first baby einstein DVD (thanks June!) and learned some new signs.

gave him his first mommy-to-child haircut.  the goal was to destroy the mullet.  despite my best efforts, it is now its a shorter, more tapered {more classy} version of a bullet.

did a one year photoshoot.  {guess how easy it is to do a photoshoot by yourself using a bench because you don't want his clothes to get dirty and have to run back to snap a picture before he throws himself from the bench?}

hung out with dad while mom went to yoga.

played with his cousins at Oma and Papa's house.  Aaaaand delivered his first kiss.  this boy knows what he wants and goes for it, and doesn't take rejection too hard.  we also learned he isn't opposed to PDA, or his whole family watching him make the first move, or watching him get rejected.

nowadays smith throws fits.  and by nowadays, I mean, as of a week ago, he'll go all limp like a noodle when you try to set him down, or stiffen and back arch when you move him away from the burners.  he loves taking showers with his dad, and loooooves to throw everything.  he also loved to grunt as he does so, emphasizing how strong he is, and reminding the object who's boss.  He makes me smile every day, and he's more fun every day, because we communicate.  I say, you want to watch the wiggles? and he'll do a little jiggy to say heck yes I do.  we love to have dance parties, because he's the best dancer.  he especially loves to work out while he dances, most notably he enjoys the elbow to chest side crunch.  he knows the sign for milk, but usually uses it to ask for any form of food.  and he absolutely, POSITIVELY, makes our lives richer and more fun each day.
