You can call it Karma, coincidence, luck. But I have dubbed my theory 'Paying it Backward'. I made a promise to three chaps a few weeks ago when Cole took me on a day hike to the Tonto Narrows that I intend to keep.
One day Cole and I were walking out of the gym, and a strange-smelling fast-talking man came up to us and asked us for $5.00 for gas for hiscarthatwasoveratthegasstation (a half mile away) outofgasandhewaslateforajobinterviewandhewouldwashourwindowsifwewouldjustgivehimfive dollarshecouldgettohisjobinterviewinGlendaleandgethisdreamjob........
SO, we gave him five dollars. And he walked (NOT EVEN OUT OF OUR SIGHT) to the next person and gave them the same story and then walked in to Trader Joes and hung out in there for a while.
That's not the point.
The point is that two days later when we were on our way to our day hike (1 1/2 hour drive), we realized when we were at the gas station that I had left Cole's wallet in my purse at home, and we were on FUMES. We decided to chance it and try to go the rest of the way. We made it. While walking back to the car at the end of the day, three young gentlemen led the way and I felt prompted to ask them for the five dollars we needed to get back. As we got into the car, I quickly hopped out, and realized all at once that because I practiced what I would say the whole walk back to the car, I was now a strange-smelling, fast-talking girl that asked them for five dollars for gas to get them home because "Ileftmyhusbandswalletathomeinmypurseandnowwedon'thaveenoughgastogetbackunlesssome sweetstrangerwillhelpus....."
They gave us five buckaroos, I promised them they would be on my next blog, and we went where? NOT to get gas, but to first get two small frosties at Wendy's, THEN get gas with our remaining $3. Not even a gallon. But it got us home.
Karma?
No.
I have NO doubt that within two days those boys were out of gas and became the strange-smelling, fast-talking guys asking some kind hearted person for $5.00 for gas. Of whom would spend at least $2.00 of it at the first fast food place they saw. AND I'm convinced that had we not given that man five dollars at the gym, the young chaps would not have been so kind.
So, my dear young friends....as promised, here is my dedication to you.
