this weekend rocked. It began with Harry Potter and ended with Harry Potter, so how could it not?
I've been begging Cole to get into some of my fantasy books for years now, and so it only seemed right to trap him in a car with me for fourteen hours and force him to listen to me read aloud.
hailing a taxi
we spent the first night with my dad's brother's family, and as always, they made us feel like movie stars. they have the most amazing backyard. every fruit and nut tree you could dream of.
one of our goals this year was to have some one-on-one face time with each of our grandparents. It was really fun to see my dad's mom, camille, and her husband Joseph.
grandma rebuked me the moment I walked in the door for being a poor planner, and then told us stories of her grandfather's cotton plantation in Mississippi and how he was the most wealthy man in the state because he had 97 slaves. it was fascinating.
Joseph pulled out of his wallet newspaper articles of his FOUR hole-in-ones. i could tell this was a big deal by how proud he was of it, and how gently he handed over the handmade laminated clippings, and how cole responded.
thanks for making it such an awesome memory hubs.

Uhm, yeah. NO ONE can do jean shorts like that little boy. Nice work Smith.
97 slaves? Seriously?
One year old is the best! And it just keeps getting better.
OH and how in the world did you travel that long with a one year old. They don't watch shows yet or eat junk food?
I love that we just talked about Grandma and Jospeh! I'm glad you had a great time.

I am so jealous that you got to visit Grandma! I haven't seen here in the three years since we left for Illinois. Looks like a fun trip.
