a little friendly competition

So one of my (unnamed) siblings may or may not be a chocolate chip cookie snob.

I don’t claim to cook or bake well, but I can make a mean cookie (my husband says so)

So last time my (unnamed) sibling came down, we wanted to make cookies, and both of us claimed to have the best chocolate chip cookie recipe on the face of the planet.

(unnamed) sibling’s cookie was from a famous bakery in NYC.

(unnamed) sibling’s recipe had ingredients that were JUST SO. (fluff flour with a fork 19 times before fluffing it into measuring cups……cut butter in 2 cm cubes 26 times across 3 sticks of butter and gently pour them into mixing bowl…..mix for 3 minutes to the beat of “Empire State of Mind”).

MY cookies?  I didn’t even use measurements and I’m not going to say I wasn’t a tad intimidated with her beat-boxing dough.

I was even more intimidated when (unnamed) sibling’s cookies came out looking like this:

whit's cookie

and mine turned out like this:

remi's cookies

the taste test came quickly.

(unnamed) sibling cookie snob cookie:

UNEDIBLE.  so nasty your pallet rejected the chocolate and perfectly cubed butter.

MY imperfect looking cookie (that usually looks positively gorgeous):

A HIT.  They were gone in seconds.

Mine OBVIOUSLY won, but due to my amazing sportsmanship and noble personality, I settled with a tie.

But now, since (unnamed) sibling is back in town for the births, we have attempted over 5 different cookie recipes, adjusting it about 16 different ways, and have yet to be satisfied.

We’re out for the the world’s best cookie recipe.  And we are NOT amateurs, so show us what you’ve got people.

I once won a similar chocolate chip cookie contest against a friend of mine and won with flying colors. I could so take you both down!

I love the relationship you share with (unnamed) sibling.
Love it.
Please post the winning recipe when you discover it. That way we can all reap the benefits of this ongoing competition.

PS. my cousin makes an "almond joy" chocolate chip cookie. add coconut and almond slices to your standard chocolate chip recipe...killer.

Also, your baby might just be the most beautiful baby boy I have ever seen.

And I'm not just saying that.

Thank you a million times over for sharing some of your precious time as a brand new family with us. We love you all and can't even describe how badly we wish that we lived less than 10 hours away from you...maybe someday...

Just laughed out loud.

So, I know this is way late, and your mind is probably far from cookies right now, but I was making some tonight and thought about your post, so I decided to add my trick. I always add about 1/2 oatmeal flour and 1/2 regular white flour. I just make the oatmeal flour myself by blending some oats. Maybe you've already tried this, but I think that the oatmeal really makes the texture better and adds a nice richness to the cookies (but they don't end up tasting like oatmeal cookies either).
