All day today I have been thinking about seeing Dear John. I actually started planning a movie trip (by myself) after I finish work and I await Cole’s homecoming. I actually enjoy seeing movies by myself. I like solitude sometimes. And I was pretty sure Cole wouldn’t be as excited to see it as I was.
That being said, I went to Costco to get some gas and some groceries, but was distracted by some maxi dresses that were on sale. I found two colors I liked, but they looked large and I needed a mirror. I shoved them in my cart and made a mental note to go back and find a mirror to look into and decide if they were worth the pretty penny they were asking for ($15).
On my way out, I saw two mirrors across from the books, and remembered to look at the dresses. As I walked over, I glanced at some novels, hoping to find a gift for my brother and found DEAR JOHN, theatrical movie cover and all….beckoning me. So, naturally, I read the last two chapters to determine whether or not to invest my emotions in the movie.
Have I disappointed some of you?
Did you think more of me?
To those who are disappointed in my literary morals, I don’t regret my decision one bit. I’m glad I cheated.
Needless to say, after I finished (determined not to see the movie for full price), I panicked that my milk was probably going sour and ran to the check out, only to discover that I still had two maxi dresses to decide between. With my stuff already on the belt being sucked toward the cashier, I was left with few options on deciding which (if any) dress to get. So, I asked the older (fashionable) woman behind me. She said red……then the cashier was waiting for me and I expected her to be annoyed. Instead, she confessed she was trying to decide between the same two colors! Before I knew it, 5 Costco employees and 3 bystanders were watching me put the dresses over my clothes and waited eagerly for me to walk the catwalk in order to cast their vote.
The conclusion (6 votes to 2)……get ‘em both. So I did. And I wore the blue one right out of Costco, over my clothes and all. MAN I looked good. I was a walking billboard. I’m sure they’ll sell out of these dresses by the end of the day.

remi, we ARE kindred spirits because i always read the last few lines of a book before i begin it. i can enjoy the book much more if i know what's going to happen. and your costco story is so cute. costco for me right now is a distant but cherished memory...
Thank you for this post. Excellent visual of you at Costco.
If I let you read my book I'm giving it to you one chapter at a time.
Remi,
This post made me laugh out loud. You are truly one of a kind.
You have now got to post the pictures of this dress you wore out of Costco. Can't wait to see it. :)
You make me laugh. I love you :)
Hated the book, hated the movie. Does that help? Haha
Oh and during the entire movie, all I did was pick out the things they changed from the book. Haha
I hated the ending of the book so much, I didn't finish reading the last 10 pages! Romance books, don't end that way, so needless to say I won't pay to see the movie either!
haha.. you're awesome. love that you wore on of them out of costco
